Project Consortium Meeting

Significant progress shown during the Project Consortium Meeting

On Wednesday, September 2, the REINFORCE consortium held its General Assembly, gathering researchers and professionals from seven countries to showcase the progress that has been made over the last few months within the project. The meeting took place online and also saw the participation of a number of PhD researchers who have recently been involved in the project.

After the opening remarks made by the Project Coordinator, Stavros Katsanevas, every work package leader or member gave a presentation about the latest updates of the project.

The project is now entering its ninth month and a range of materials have already been produced.

Recently four deliverables have been submitted:

  • the Ethics Handbook and Data Management Plan, providing the procedures to be followed for the protection of the ethical rights of the users participating or providing real data during the school-based work;
  • the Citizen Engagement Plan, defining a concrete set of activities in the field, and the corresponding mechanisms for monitoring and corrective action, and including a thorough description of the citizen empowerment and participatory engagement activities;
  • the Citizen Science Demonstrator Template, including a series of recommendations for the demonstrators to follow during their development work, to make sure that their citizen science projects meet the RRI framework requirements.
  • Requirement No. 4, confirming that EGO has appointed a Data Protection Officer (Francesca Spagnuolo) and describing the technical and organisational measures, including security and anonymisation techniques, that will be implemented to safeguard the rights and freedoms of the data subjects/research participants.

Before the end of October another four deliverables are due to be completed, being the Analysis dataset of each of the demonstrators, which is what is keeping the partners working on the Large-Scale Citizen Science Demonstrators busy at the moment.

Important progress has also been made regarding the sonification of data and some interesting facts for the promotion activities related to the project are on-going and will be announced in due time.

The Advisory Board, which is an external group of valued and recognized experts, representing the industry and the end-users and providing valuable insights and advice on the strategic direction of the project, has been set up with seven members, who will be involved in the next Consortium Meeting. The possibility of having this meeting in person is under discussion.
